I mostly use Nikon strobes with modifiers for portraits and was looking for something similar to an Obie light to give the subject a little twinkle in their eyes.
What do you use for an eye-light? I was thinking of setting an SB-800 at very low power or using an LED at very low power but I don't think it will give that twinkle that I am noticing a lot in such shows as "Damages".
It's amazing how that twinkle in the eye really makes a difference!
Certain shoemount flashes - although none from Nikon - have a secondary tube for this very purpose. Check out the Contax TLA360, Leica SF 58, and Metz. With Nikon CLS, you can use the inbuild flash on the higher-end models as a Commander for off-camera key, while serving as fill and catchlight generator.
