I am finding for the first time that LR is producing more detail than DPP from CR2. It seems that Canon has been overtaken on their own Raw format.

Are others finding the same?

I am making sure everything is set to zero and the Adobe interpretation of the Canon standard shooting format used. There is quite a noticeable difference. Particularly at 200% where it makes the LR photo look like it was been shot with a sharper lens.

Well done Adobe.

Forget this. I had not zero'd all sharpening. Doh!

Two renderings very close now.

no, I find ACR still does not produce the clean conversions that DPP does.

I haven't used DPP lately - how does it compare to the latest ACR and Lightroom 4 when it comes to noise control, defringing and lens corrections? I find those features of ACR/LR almost indispensable in cleaning up Canon 20D and 50D images at 800 ISO and removing purple fringing from chrome when using my 85/f1.8 wide open.
