Sony, Verbatim, Taiyo-Yuden, Mitsui, Fuji, JVC, etc. I think I have yet to have a CD go bad on me but plenty of DVD's have. The people at Media Supply are very knowledgeable and helpful. http://www.mediasupply.com/cd-r-media.html

Note that obtaining quality media is only part of the story. A particular brand of quality disc may not give good results with burner A but it may be just fine with burner B. Further, those satisfactory results may only be obtained at a specific burn speed -- and slowest is not usually better.

For CDs or DVDs that are handed off to clients, I don't obsess too much over disc quality but I don't give them the cheapest thing I can find either. For my own archival purposes, I test media for read errors (different media, different burn speeds) and use what gives me the best result.

At least that's how it used to be. These days, 4.7GB doesn't seem nearly as spacious as it used to.
