all the more reason for the new E mount FF in the 7 footprint. Sony should pay those guys! Once that thing is really out and working it would help sell alot of bodies

It's cool the technology is coming along, but I am pretty sure I can MF faster than that!!
Well, the AFD in the 50/1.8 isn't Canon's best AF motor, to put it mildly. I wonder how it will perform with Ring USM lenses like the 28/1.8 and 85/1.8.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.
Looks pretty similar to the LA-EA1 and the 50/1.8 SAM in focus speed. If relative performance is similar the proper ring USM lenses should be quite a bit faster, if still slow by PDAF standards as the LA-EA1 is usable with SSM lenses but slow with SAM lenses.
I have this adapter from Zhuoming but still didn't try it that much. It focuses a 200/2.8 in about a second. It seems the USM is to fast for NEX's autofocus. It It runs two three times over the point, iterating to the right focus. These are my preliminary findings.
It is useful for adapting my alt SLR lenses on the NEX because I have coded the adapters for the Canon. So I know which lens I used, the NEX knows which times can be hold without motion blur.
Metabones/Conurus have now a new version of their EOS-NEX adapter with autofocus !
Apperently it works only for newer lenses and I'm wondering if it works for my converted Contax N lenses.

No it doesn't work. The converted Contax N lenses are still manual focus only with the new EOS-NEX adapter:
The following lenses have been tested with previous firmware versions with manual focus, aperture control, image stabilization (if applicable) and EXIF support. Autofocus is known to be disabled for lenses shown in italic, and may be disabled for the other lenses shown below.
