p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · D600 LCD green tint... Here we go again.

The cameras I use are the D700 and D90, ordered the D600 for the wife (perfect for her small hands). Camera was delivered Thursday(via Amazon). Love the fact that Nikon had plenty of stock on hand for this release. And also, for a "consumer" camera it feels more substantial that I had expected... definitely better than the D90, but not as hefty as the D700.

The only thing that really bothers me is the LCD green tint on mine. I've read a lot about the same issue with the D800, just wanted to check with those of you here who have the D600 to see if your LCDs are showing the same issues as mine. Do I have a bad copy or are all the D600 LCDs like this similar to what I've read about the D800.

Current D600 owners, please chime in. Thanks.

Edit: Was able snap a few photos to show. Here are links to the photos D600 vs D700 lcd since i am not able to upload.
1. D600 vs D700 D600 is on the left... D700 on right.
2. D600 only
3. D700 only

You got any pics. Maybe 1 from your D700 and D600 to show the difference.

Yes, I have also a green tint. Quite clear when comparing reality or photos on computer monitor (which are beautiful). LCD useless to adjust white balance. If not solved, the D600 (received September 20), will go back.

Not sure why a very very slight green lcd screen tint will ruin a camera? I feel that the LCD should be used to develop composition, not to be used as a Photo Color Proofing system...? I just got my D600 and it seems about perfect. By far better than the D700.

To Infocusphoto: if your D600 is perfect and mine has a green tint, that's more reason to send back mine. One cannot do fine color proofing with the LCD, but I don't have much time for computer based adjustment and prefer to quickly adjust on the spot (especially at night).

When/what conditions do you find it to go (Green) on you? Is it noticeable in all situations?

Just updated the original post with links to several images showing the green tint. I'm hoping this is limited to a few batches only as well, then I would be able to swap it for a hopefully good unit.

The green tint is noticeable in all situations, outdoors with plenty of natural light and especially darker indoors.

I read somewhere that the green tint may be caused by some material in the LCD that is not fully cured. So it is most prevalent in new cameras that have just been built and over time it may go away. Bu I don't have any first hand knowledge on it.

I hope it will go away. Just doesn't give me peace of mind having to wait for it to cure... especially when you only have 30days to return it.

Sorry, but I don't see any green tint. Only thing I see is the D600 screen looks a little brighter.

I can easily see the green tint in the posted image of the D600.

Looks like WB issue to me.

Both images were taken with AWB setting using the same Nikon 28/1.8G lens. When a jpeg from the D600 is imported into Lightroom, the photo looks normal... It's just the LCD preview that has the green tint (symptoms very similar to the D800 issue). After using the D700 and D90 for 3yrs, and being accustomed to a color managed workflow, the difference from the new LCD was instantly noticeable.

If you have just the D600 by itself the tint may not be as evident. But you can easily see the difference when viewing side by side to another camera. As with another poster above, I can also see the difference myself just from eyeballing the LCD and the real world object (white envelope).

I can see the colour cast difference of the 2 screens, but would it bother me? No. I only shoot raw and only ever use the LCD to quickly check composition and sharpness at the chosen focus point so a slight colour cast wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

However, each to their own and when you spend top dollar for high end gear I can understand why this issue may bother you.

I'm probably a minority but I don't think I've ever used the on camera LCD screen to adjust my WB.
