Air Show at Oceana NAS Virginia Beach this past weekend

I had to leave before the Blue Angels but got a few shots in

(all pics with the XSi /450D and Canon 100-400)

Very nice images. I'd suggest adding a little more sky to the top of the Stearman shot, but otherwise a very good set.

In the future, I'd suggest that you shoot propeller-driven airplanes at a slower shutter speed in order to show some motion blur in the propeller (1/250 or 1/320 is a good starting point). You'll need to pan carefully along with the airplane when shooting to keep the airframe sharp. This will reduce your keeper rate and make it harder to get a sharp image, but the results will look much more realistic and dynamic.

Thx - I tried panning, had a few keepers. After the air show I realized there was a panning mode on the lens, don't know how much that would have helped

Hi,

Nice shots...I enjoyed seeing the F4-E with the leading edge slats, and TISEO system in the port wing (Target Indentification System Electro-Optical). They were brought to Udorn RTAFB in 1972 to help with the MIGCap sorties...
