I did. When the 5DII follow up threads started last year I said I am happy with it but wish higher ISO and sensitivness of center point only. And I mentioned that 20 MP would be enough for me. I guess Canon read it.

Am I a camera designer now?

No WB button - not a problem for raw shooters.
No buttons along the left - finally! Some of us have noses.
Interchangeable screens - better than 5D Mk III.
Depth of field preview finally in the traditional place.
The buttons at top right each do only one thing - a huge improvement.

This looks like a good bread-and-butter camera to me, the first from Canon for a long time. The AF system is what it is; not everyone uses fast glass.

You go FF for low light/shallow DOF or resolution.

If your not looking for either of those you would buy a 60d.

A new sensor is what surprises me, and I will have to wait and see what it delievers compared to the 5DMkII/ MKIII before making up my mind about this. Size and weight makes it interesting at least.

Except no flash exposure compensation button, the one I use most by far. Now you have to go into the Q menu.

Perhaps the most ridiculous excuse I've heard in a long time.

Canon must be very happy to have customers like you. Less pressure!

I dont get the new sensor, why , why create an 18mp, 20mp and 22mp sensor range? Unless this one can be made cheaper than the others.

Don't forget the 5D2. It is still out there, brand new and second hand.

From now on Canon will have four full frame sensors floating around in the market. 18, 20, 21, 22 megapixels.

I'm afraid this creates an obvious hole in their lineup. Next release: 19 MP!

I have f/1.2 and f/1.4 lenses and currently require a body that can AF them properly. But if I didn't (and many don't) this does look like a good camera.

APS-C viewfinders are a miserable experience and reason enough to go full frame if it's affordable. So is the wider lens selection.

about ISO i said according to specs :-), but still it has to be better
comon native iso 6400 today?

as to AF, yes i dont like at all, but it is entry level camera

Rickuz wrote:
We haven't seen anything yet.

Manufacture can say whatever native value they want. 1DX suppose to have 2 stop "native" iso over D4 but tests shows they are pretty much the same at all ISO levels. One is honest about usable ISO and the other one is about look good on spec sheet

What good will these bells and whistles be if you can't nail your focus recompose technique?

Look again. The 6D gives you 11 points / 1 cross-type, while the D600 gives you 39 points and 9 cross-types.

The 6D and D600 are for people getting into FF photography. (people who are

The 7D viewfinder isn't too bad at all. I don't really notice when switching bodies between 7D and 1Ds2.

Do you mean wide angle lenses? As surely APS-C has a wider lens selection than FF as it can use all EF lenses and also EF-S?

There's no getting around the physics: it's got to be either smaller or dimmer, because it's gathering less light. From brief handling, they went with dimmer for the 7D.

I know many people seem to be happy with APS-C, and many were happy with pentamirrors on Canon film cameras. I never understood how.

I'd rather not derail the thread by getting into a full frame/crop discussion. The demand from people who want a full frame lens set is demonstrated and Canon is responding to it here.

Boring. I already have 2 5D2 bodies. Neither this nor the 5D3 interest me as I have all the camera I need with the 5D2's and a 7D and image quality differences at low ISO's is getting so marginal these days. Now if it was a 36 or 45 mp body I might be interested!
