Just saw that. Should make a lot of people happy. Wish it were f/1.4, though...Need the speed for some subject separation. Will be interesting to see how they price it. This one will be hard to price at the premium they put the 12/2 and 75/1.8 at, I think. I'm thinking $499 is what they'll charge, which would be a reasonable price if the lens is as good as their other recent primes optically.
I don't have much hope or concern for bokeh characteristics of any pancake for M4/3, as once you get past like 4-10 feet you're nearly hyperfocal even wide open haha.
Oh, is it going to be a pancake, too? I thought the 17/2.8 was just for illustration. Well... Let me clarify: As long as the bokeh is not as bad as the one from the 20/1.7 (at least I find it quite harsh), I can see myself buying this one. We'll see.
Pretty cool. Oly seems to love their primes at 1.8. I just wish this particular lens was a bit faster - maybe Oly feels 1.8 is a good balance of size/speed/price.
I'll probably end up buying it anyway, when I eventually save up the pennies.
Wouldn't think even at f1.4 that you are getting great "subject isolation" from a 17mm lens... wouldn't be the driver for buying it 'cuz it won't be that great for this usage. Shallow DoF guys won't even be that happy with the 45/1.8!
Still, if the bokeh is nicer than the Pan 20 and the quality better than the 17/2.8 and it is reasonably priced I'll probably replace my 17/2.8... even though I'm still pretty happy with the little 17/2.8.

f1.8 is fast enough for most every use as well. If the 17/1.8 is up to the performance of the 45/1.8, Oly has themselves a winner.
Yep, and just imagine what if they'd offer it as a kit lens with the OM-D at a reduced price, just as they did with the 17/2.8 and the original PEN....
