RX100.. RX1..
Will they make a APS-C RX10 ?
That is an indication that they need to make good use of the sensor (economic of scales) and we will probably see more FF based products, especially for those who are committed to other systems to try their goodies.
The good thing about it being RX instead of NEX is... better menu /firmware
Check out your shopping cart now! maybe we will see more stuffs after that
Its unclear if it even has an EVF. Anyway, whilst nice, I'm still personally gonna wait for something interchangeable. Sure, I like 35mm and would probably use it most of the time, but I I'd also want a swa and short tele. Basically, nice, but we're still not there are we. If this is the surprise as well, seems we can rule out any FF nex for this year :-(

This is exciting,... I think. If it has a viewfinder and the focus is reliable, I'm in! If it lacks a viewfinder or requires an attachment, then it's another non-starter for me (much like the Canon ef-m, Leica X-series, Olympus EP's... been there, done that). I love the Zeiss 35 f2... brilliant sharp lens... looking forward to seeing the back of the camera!!

If it's fixed length I would have much preferred 50mm instead of 35mm, as 35mm is a bit wide on FF. But I understand why they would choose 35mm because it probably has wider appeal.

Well, 35mm seems to be the standard FL for fixed lens compacts since film days. 50mm is not wide enough for all purpose use. With 35mm you can step closer if too wide, but it's not always possible to step back.
Btw, Sony has finally done the unthinkable: A 35mm FF P&S !!!!!!!

So just to check, this is what we're calling the "pro nex" camera that the likes of Steve Huff spoke of?
It really needs a VF. To be fair, my walk around camera is a fixed lens RFwith a 40/1.7. And I'm happy with that. I just feel I'd want more from such a mirrorless, the ability to use it as a second system, rather than just a everywhere type camera... So a couple of extra lenses, nothing more.
Edit: good point on the flash. I think we can be pretty certain there is no EVF. So attachment only. Which seems kind of weird... Those who want a ff small camera surely want a VF as well? Perhaps just trying to break up price, keep it smaller somehow... You can upgrade the VF over time I guess... But still, put a good evf in there to start with, and think you can be certain everyone will be happy.

Ugh, this is so close to being ideal for me. My least favorite thing about my X100 is the focal length, since I'd prefer it in the 42-50mm range, but I can live with 35mm. However, not having a built-in EVF could keep me away from this camera. It'd better at least have a hotshoe EVF option.
Either way, it's certainly a cool direction for Sony to be heading in. Totally unexpected.
