I answered a post last week saying I buy my bodies used when everyone starts to upgrade wheb new one model comes out. Which made me think I should be looking for a MK IV. None out there. I looked at the buy sell board for the last five days.plenty of MK III and s III, lots of MK II in all configurations, action in the 5II's but near nothing in MK IV. It time for MY new camera why aren't you guys updating the X?
the IV is still a viable camera. While the 1dx might replace it, there's plenty of people that would rather keep the 1.3 crop. Take away the 1.3 crop and the ability to AF at f/8 (outside a Kenko teleconverter) and you have a lot of wildlife/bird photographers that will just as likely sit still and not upgrade.
I just got a 1dIII and love it. Great time to buy one of those.
I own a 1d mk4 with a few 100k clicks on it. I love that body, if you can pick up a good used one jump on it. That said I also have a 1dx that I have had 6 weeks or so, it has 12k clicks on it already. Since purchasing that my mk4 has been very much a second body now, it has maybe 200 clicks on it since getting the 1dx. The 1dx is pricey but the best of anything cost a lot more than the second best of anything. To me it is worth it, YMMV.
You'll see more 1D4's for sale when Canon actually releases a body that replaces it. The 1DX is a complimentary body at best. No way does it replace the 1D4.

Don't hold your breath, unless the 7D II is very special as Canon have given you the 1D IV replacement, at least in their stupid minds!

I wish they'd kept the 1.3 series of 1D's pro bodies.
So i am on the fence for now
Maybe just get a Mark IV(-+?)..but then again if they've abandoned that sensor size ....we will see.
