I don't like the pic myself, but it's the best I got that day. I actually was waiting for the sun to come up more to give the trees more colour, but I had a nasty cold and couldn't wait. I'll be coming back to do some more scouting. This park is not far from home. As for the lawn, it could be the sharpener which I'm trying to get used to.

My main problem with that scene is the plugged shadows and it looks like Astro Turf not real lawn. Oh well.
Here is my take on the Bells. Weather was horrible for days. I was camped out there for three nights and went to the bells for three mornings straight (4:30 AM at the spot each time). It wasnt fun but the place is amazing and it was great to camp out there even though it was wet.

Maroon Bells is an incredible place isn't it? I admire your dedication, camping out. I'm afraid my camping and backpacking days are in the past. Nice shot.
Just got back from a quick weekend in Pocahontas County, West Virginia. The colors in the highlands are just about right: not quite peak, but very little leaf fall, so the color plays against the remaining green nicely. Mostly yellow maple, but a few striking reds. If you are thinking of going to the Allegheny highlands, this is the week. I'm going back next week but the action may be at lower elevations.
Jajaja thats my tripod in the middle with the blue nalgene bottle hanging! I was probably to the left side of the lake taking pictures of the rocks and logs.
