Nikon has just announced the new COOLPIX S800c, a 16MP point-and-shoot digital camera powered by the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.
It enables you to shoot pictures and Full HD video easily, share your creations through Wi-Fi, and it transforms your camera into a smart device so you can browse the Web, check your email and social networks and take your pick from Google Play's thousands of available apps.

On a new-release device, I expect to see at least Ice Cream Sandwich, but ideally Jelly Bean. I'm sure there must have been a reason why Nikon chose 2.3 but I soundly disapprove of that choice.
On the other hand, and assuming you can install and run other apps as in other Android devices, my son might really appreciate a camera that can also play games and listen to music. I'll look into it further later when it's available.

I would order 2 if it also has function as a projector, with remote control app (for all devices) installed, and AM-FM radio... hey, work with me Nikon!

looks like the ideal camera for the wife.
better photos than a cellphone, but something she can put in her purse, and snap and upload pics of the kids to her FB/Instagram account. something the boys could play angrybirds on while she's shopping too is a plus. keep their hands off the shelves.
or I'd even vote for it as a pocket camera for places like theme parks, when a full sized SLR isn't practical.
perfect camera for a food blogger too!
my hopes would be to have a WiFi cell with skype on it and the proper headset.
