p.2 #1 · Need advice about buying a used M9

I don't care about video, but LV would enable the use of, for example, macro lenses and telephoto lenses. It is not only about focusing accuracy, but also just about expanding the system.

I disagree about the price, but we will see what happens next month.

Understand about price prediction

But there is almost no Macro and telephoto lens from Leica. Most of them focus only 0.7M and longest is 135mm. I agree those are features make it cherry on the top. But I won't let them prevent me get M9 or M10 If I am in the market for M digital.

That shows you how highly he thinks of his Summarit, and its marketability...

Not to be ignorant or something, but why the need for them to expand?

The M system is a complete system with works perfectly in the area's its intended for. For the other area's there are so many systems out there who work perfect for those.

It seems to me many people want a leica no matter what. Even if it doesn't fit their needs.
Instead of looking further for a system that does, they want leica to change.

Well, I think for many people the Leica M is almost perfect, except for X, Y and Z. So add that and then the camera is better

More seriously, even Leica saw such a need once upon a time, with the Visoflex. I think the lack of close focusing and macro capability is quite constraining.

Exactly, the visoflex was aimed at transforming the M into an SLR, in the same way as the alpha to Nex Sony adapter which contains a mirror.

A pure Leica M would be perfect for 90% of my shooting. Why should I get another system for the remaining 10% when adding LV will take care of them?

Maybe your right and there is a big marked who will jump in with small extra's to the existing body. But I think they have to be careful with the position they have now.

BTW, you can't say the Visoflex did them any good . When they stopped with making them and just made a system better for those kind of purposes, the R slr system. Things got better again.

Well, we all know what happened to the R system So now Leica again has no solution for macro and telephoto, other than the compacts and the S system. I think Live View would be a nice extra trick for the M10. Not necessary, but it makes the system more flexible, and for some people this may mean that they can ditch a second system they currently maintain.

Exactly. Adding Live View (without changing the RF system) takes nothing away from the M legacy and adds a feature that opens the system up to a lot more types of photography. With such an M10, I'm hoping there would then be justification for more specialized lenses like more macro lenses and maybe even a tilt-shift.
