I got a brand new, Vested Interest Khubu custom made vest valued at $450, for $70 on ebay!
Anyone who has any "interest" in one of these, I recommend them! I am nobody special to be recommending anything, I am a just regular person and 30+ year photographer. I make no claims to fame or anything. Just hoping to help someone that may be looking at one like I was.
It is light weight and airy and has "Plenty" of pockets for storage. I have disablities that hinder my walking some and this is much better than the back pack, I used to carry. The weight is distributed well and easy access.
This has nothing to do with the vest itself, but OMG... that website had me laughing! The models, style of photography and website design screams 1992. I love it! Sorry, again, this has nothing to do with the product itself. Oh, and you have to love the VHS holder pocket on the Pro Video vest. hehe
I'd love to hear how it does work for you though. What are you looking for in a photo vest? What do you want to be able to carry in it? I've considered one off/on over the years.
I was debating getting another backpack as I have used in the past but with limited mobility I just felt it would not work for my needs. I wanted something that I could carry all my equipment for easy access while walking/hiking. The back pack can throw off your balance also. The vest can help keep things in proper balance for me.
I hated having to stop take off my back pack and set it down in the dirt or whatever. But I also needed to have something that I could carry those things in for those long hikes, like my tripod and monopod.
I can also carry water bottles, food, like snack bars and things in the pockets. There is a small lined pocket that is great for things like your iphone or ID so it will not get wet.
Pockets and hooks everywhere ALL with easy access! It is highly adjustable so in the cold weather you wear a lot of clothing you can adjust it out to fit and in summer take it back in!
The really light parachute material and the mesh backing, definately keeps you cooler than solid fabric material like cotton blend.
I know I sound like a paid infomercial but that is what it is for me!

Envious of the amazing bargain you got. I looked for others but no luck
Enjoy it.

Thank you, and sorry you could not find one, but keep looking you never know.
It was the only one listed on ebay at the time, it was just being at the right place at the right time. I also found it under "Hiking vests" not "Photographers vests".
Are you carrying lenses and/or the body in the vest, or just accessories? Seems like it would be "strange" having a 70-200 f/2.8 or another heavy lens in a pocket unless the weight was counterbalanced on the opposite side of the vest. Again, I'm just making assumptions based on what I might want to carry.
i use a 5.11 tac vest and with a modular vertical pocket that holds both my 70-700/2.8 and an SB900 flash. two more additional pockets for other lenses and or a body.
I will be carrying my lenses ON the vest not in the vest pockets. I have Kinesis lens pouches I will be attaching to my vest belt or attach to a hook.
The nice thing about this vest is, it has straps to secure anything from moving or bouncing around. The pockets in back are perfect for lenses, but not for me.
Here is a short video review of it. Check out what he pulls out of it!
The great thing about Vested Interest is that they will customize your vest. I got one with a front from one model and a back from another and specially sized pockets and a shortened length. I went vestless for a long time but am sold now.
what I don't understand about this outfit is that they just need to mod up to a MOLLE based modular system and they could make a real marketable product.
