...ordered one of the new Canon 500 F4L II lenses. It arrived yesterday just before it started to pour. So I actually read the manual. As I was cleaning up from dinner, the sun finally reappeared, so I went outside to see what I could find - the cat.
1) Sushi @ 1/60 handheld. This is the first long lens I have owned with IS, so I wanted to see how far I could push it. 1/60 is just fine in my book. I think years of shooting non is lenses has paid off.
This morning I went back to the lake to hopefully give it a workout. The burdz were cooperative for a change - not many, but some good poses.
2) One of the first things that happened was a fly over by 2 juvi BEs. They came from behind me, so I thought I had missed my chance, but an Osprey decided it didn't like their "flight path", and turned them around.
5) Movement off to my right catches my eye, and this beaver was swimming towards me. It dove, but the bubbles from it were still headed my way. I was afraid it would get too close, but it surfaced and made a turn before noticing me and slapping the water.
Ron,
I am really happy for you - this lens is a winner! These are fine shots and that lens in your hands will surely get us many more great shots for viewing. Congrats. - RC
Holy IQ, Batman! Wow, you've got THE lens, Ron, and it's pretty obvious that you know what to do with it. Great shots, and man, that has to be one of the finest lenses ever made.
