A friend of mine will come to visit me here in LA from another country, and he wants me to take some of family pics of his family outdoor. (family of 5 just in case that makes any difference).
Do you Guys have any info/suggestion about nice location for family photoshoot in/around LA?

Your profile shows that you live in LA, you should know that there are a huge number of options and that you need to share something a bit more specific than outdoor if you want good input.

Santa Monica Pier
Elysian Park
Griffith Park
Holmby Park
La Brea Tar Pits
Huntington Gardens
Art District
Disney Concert Hall
Thanks for the input qwyjibo, but my friends also have no idea of what they want, they just say: family pics, outdoor so I'm just trying to get as much idea as I can.

I'd also take a stroll through Little Tokyo. Some spots have lots of greenery/Japanese gardens and make for a great background. However, it can get really busy in some places so plan to head out early in the morning.
There's a pond, a stream, some hills, a japanese garden... and if you go to the top, there's a path that leads to a grass area where you can have downtown and the hollywood sign as the backdrop. A lot of possibility.
^ That's a good call too. Here are a couple of photos that I found from that area. Nothing great (and still replete with dust spots), but you can get an idea of the area/views.
so I'm just trying to get as much idea as I can.
