Has anybody seen or played with the Tokina At-x 116 Pro Dx II A seller on Amazon apparently has 9 of them in stock. I haven't heard a peep about this lens tho.

FWIW, tokina doesn't distinguish between "US" and "Import" or "grey market" like nikon and canon do....i bought my 11-16 from a guy here in miami, got a killer deal on it, and promptly called tokina with the serial number to make sure it was a "US model"...the guy i spoke to said it didn't matter, that they would work on any tokina lens no matter where it was purchased or where it was from....granted, i dunno about warranty issues, but i dont think it would make much of a difference...if you have a warranty card with it, and bill of sale, i'm sure they'd service no charge within the warranty period...

I love my "old" 11-16 - it was a huge plus during my recent trip to Europe.

The focusing motor is called an "SDM" motore. Tokina and Pentax have shared a lot of technology, or at least lens designs, over the recent years. Pentax's lenses have a built-in motor called an SDM motor, and they have been plagued with failures to the point that many won't buy them and there is always talk about it on pentaxforums. Any idea if these are the some motors or just use the same acronym? I am trying to decide between V1 and V2
