Priorities Rod! Priorities! Get the 600 II and keep the 800! And yes it's scientifically true that you can live off of dry Raisin Bran for at least two decades. Pull the trigger man!!!
I've thought about selling my wife's 500 and replacing it with the 600. I don't know if she would notice the weight difference in the lenses but she would notice a much lighter check book
What you need is an off balance sheet special purpose vehicle you see sir to hide the transaction from related parties. You see it's been done this way for centuries! It's all in how you structure it. A quick trip to the Cayman Islands and we'll have you set up! Then on to St. Tropez!

Wow, good to see a women using the big guns. I can get my wife to use the 70-200 f/2.8 but no larger.

As usual, it comes down to what you like to shoot. For me, as a birder, the decision was easy, especially considering FF cameras will always have the edge in terms of IQ. 800mm all the way. The 600mm is great on FF provided you only shoot tame birds, shoot feeder setups or love sitting in a blind! Another way to put it is that if you have a teleconverter attached to your lens most of the time, you've bought the wrong lens.
I certainly can't justify the expense for my photography needs, however Rod, as Dave Ramsey so often says..."beans and rice, and rice and beans"...I'm just sayin'...
Oh, and just let me know when I get to visit sometime, I mean you're just right up I-70W!!!
I'd love to meet ya at an air show sometime...Good luck with your decision!!!
