I'm looking for a strap for a Canon 1D series camera. I currently use the original Canon hand strap. But when I want to free my hands I have to put the camera down. I have tried both the Sunsniper and rapid strap but I don't like them. I like simple straps. The original strap is actually perfect, it just needs more padding.
It has no quick disconnects and the whole strap is soft. It's also small and light enough to wrap around my hand. I usually don't carry the camera around my neck but I would like to be able to free my hands once in a while.
The only problem about the Optech is the recommended weight. I don't know if it will hold a 1D. I love how it looks and feels. But I don't want my camera to drop on the floor
The Comfort strap will work fine with a 1D - I've had one on my 10D for several years. But, on my 1D bodies I prefer the Super Classic with the Uni-Loop quick disconnect ends. The Super Classic distributes the heavy weight of the 1D better, grips better if you use it on your shoulder, and I've never had any issues with the quick disconnects.
Some don't like the stretchiness of the Optech neoprene straps, but it's not a bother to me. A strap can be a very personal choice. I also use a Camdapter hand strap on my 1D bodies:
