Even from a distance of 600m away, it's always surprising how wide you need to go to fit this in the frame! July normally means beige skies and 120 degrees. 120 degrees with clouds was a nice rarity.
Nice work Phil. I would like to see some perspective control applied in post to straighten and aright the surrounding buildings. Are the beige skies due to sandstorms?
Douglas
Thanks for the feedback, Douglas. Beige skies are due to the atmospherics and sand getting trapped in the lower atmosphere. It doesn't make for good photography!
I have applied some perspective control already. Completing it to stop all buildings leaning results in the upper portion of the Burj being so stretched at a pixel level that detail is completely lost.
Here's another view of the tower from a different PoV and roughtly the same distance, with full correction applied.
Thanks Lazlo - I've only been in the public entrance to the viewing deck so far, which is around 550 to 600m up the 828m tower. When it looks as if you have good visibility from the ground, you very often have low visibility towards the horizon from the top. I'll have to get into the Armani hotel at some point soon.
first looks like it is entering the stratosphere, or whatever lies beyond
the corrected version is great. Looks like something from an early 50's sci-fi comic, imagining the future
