p.1 #1 · Backgrounds

I just got my first background and tried a few quick shots.

I had a really good time playing with this and my 4 y.o. but they are not cheap. It made me wonder, Is there a place to get digital backgrounds cheap? I think it would be a lot of fun with my kids and I am no Ryan so making my own would be out. I do think I am good enough to layer my kids into one that is already made up. So if you have any suggestions please let me know.

It's an interesting shot. The BG makes this look like a weird HDR of some sort. Perhaps some distance from your BG and less DOF will help.

I think the best way is to shoot your own. Start looking for backgrounds and I'll bet you will see them all over. A lot cheaper also. There are some "free" downloads available online. Try Deviant Art for some ideas.

FWIW, get good at showing feet and making it look real to take these to the next level. Otherwise, all of your shots will have chopped feet like this

Gheller - it was a wood floor so i am not sure the best way to handle the floor issue - yeah cutting the feet bothered me as well but I need to figure something out that will work - he was actually standing on some blocks in this shot
