When I lived in SoCal, I discovered the LA County Museum of Art (and the adjacent LaBrea Tar pits). They made for a great day of sightseeing.
Looks like they've gone a bit "avant" since I was last there years ago.

Thanks! Charlie. I guess they're running out of old arts so they've been mostly installing new art. I actually mistakenly thought LAC"MA" stood for "modern art"! The "Levitated Rock" is a very recent installation that caused quite a bit of controversy because the rock had to be transported from Arizona (I believe) on busy LA freeways. However, because of that, they offered free admissions to all residents from zipcodes the transport passed, and I was lucky to pick the same weekend to go!
