I have a friend with a Canon SLR that wants to borrow my sb-26 for a photobooth setup. Will the SB-26 work on the canon hotshoe? I want to make sure that nothing fries in the process - his camera or my flash.
Would your friend be using it off camera? Not that it would make a difference, it should work the same both on and off in that you will have to run it full manual.

Voltages are the same, it'd be like using any off-brand flash on the camera. If one were to search google for "nikon flash on canon camera", they would find many instances of people doing so with no issues whatsoever, aside from having to run the flash 100% manual, which for a photo booth would not be a problem at all, actually preferable.
