Stepped down a little would have yield better sharpness, I guess. But for wide open with 2x TC the lens is doing pretty well.

I would consider those as unusable.

Thanks Tim! I had thought about getting rid of this lens more than once, but it's really not too shabby as a general purpose lens, especially for close-up work.

You are right. I shouldn't have uploaded those pictures at all.

But to do justice to this truly superb lens I have used the same combo again (OLY F/2 150mm + 2xTC),
changed the ISO to 640 and the aperture to f/6.3.

Look at the difference it makes.

First the original image followed by a 100 % crop of the main subject in it.

Not sure if the 100-300mm at f/6.3 produces better images, but for a 2xTC this is very acceptable I think.

Monopod.

Actually I have also the OLY 75-300mm F4.8-6.7, but did not use it much so far.

Very nice images, but that has got to be THE worst CA I've ever seen in my life! Any crops?

It has so much CA, that it can be viewed with 3D glasses.

Olympus doesnt correct CA, only distortion (usually). Panasonic body is needed for correction of this, then its managable (not perfect tho). Depending on software corrections isnt bad as long as you dont want to mount it on something that doesnt have it..

A sad day today as the boat was winterized and put away for the winter. But before, a few snaps with the OM-D . . .

IMO it's very bad that M4/3 standard allows so different approaches to IS, CA correction, etc.
This way it is not a standard

Bob the 75 shines. Like the second image especially, an imaginative detail shot.

One reason I love Lightroom. Instant CA correction regardless of body. I have it do the CA removal on import.

It would be great if someone could post comparison shots between the Oly f2 150mm + 2x TC compared to the Oly 75-300mm at 300mm.

Which lens is better at 300mm, the Oly 75-300mm or the Panasonic 100-300mm?

Those pictures were imported and worked in Lightroom ... so where did I go wrong? Do you have to turn on the instant CA removal somewhere?
