Today I did some shots with the 2x TC matched with the Olympus f/2 150mm on OM-D EM-5

All shots were wide open at f/2 (with 2xTC of course f/4). All images had been cropped at least 50 %.

Stepped down a little would have yield better sharpness, I guess. But for wide open with 2x TC the lens is doing pretty well.

Seems like a lot of missed focus with the 2x. Did you have to manually focus, or did AF still work?

I used AF only on a monopod. DOF is very shallow. It can be seen, when there are 3 birds in one image. One is in focus, others not, even though they are not very far apart. I should have gone up with ISO and with a smaller aperture, hard to focus with f/2

The images are mostly very soft ... too soft actually. I can get much sharper images with my Panasonic 100-300 ... hand-held. I think a 1.4x TC would probably work better i.e. it will be a little sharper and the AF will work a little better as well. Stopping down slightly and using a higher shutter speed would certainly help too.
