I was at my wedding Yesterday and had a problem with my new flashes. I thought that I had figured out how to have the 2 off camera flashes in manual and the on camera flash ettl. Not so. Does anyone know how to make that work?
- Set all flashes to same channel (radio)
- Set OCF to slave (radio)
- Change OCF group to B (or whatever other than A)
- Set On Camera Flash to master (radio)
- On the On Camera Flash, click that Mode button few times until you see that mode where there is a list of groups A, B, C, D, E
- Use On Camera Flash menus to set Master (Group A) to ETTL, and OCF (Group B or whatever) to Manual
Thanks for the feedback all. Turns out, I was doing it correctly, actually. I had it set just like Bihn said. I did not realize that group A would automatically be the master flash, so I kept trying to figure out how to set it as group A. Turns out, you don't have to.
Yeah, the group A as a master is sort of a F-up on Canon's part. Only in that it isn't spelled out ANYWHERE in the manual or the flash menus as far as I can tell. As soon as you figure it out though, it's pretty simple to account for.
