Sorry, but I don't think I'm really impressed. I know these are jpegs, but there's nothing really sharp there IMO.
Can we get any more information/images?
I pre-ordered this lens, and I'd like to see something that excites me, but I'm not seeing anything the cheaper 50 f/1.8 couldn't do easily, and possibly better.

Wished the lens is faster at f2 or larger f stop. Otherwise, there's nothing much to complain.
This is a PANCAKE lens and the selling point is PANCAKE!
Otherwise, go for 50 f1.8 or 35 f2.
Sorry, I meant no offense, but it is what it is..
As I said, I ordered it, and did so because it was a pancake and because the charts looked OK. I honestly thought it would be sharper. is this a released model or pre-production?
Looks good enough to me for a cheap pancake. A little sharpening and it'd be great. I'd buy one if I hadn't just bought 8GB of RAM sticks and a 120GB SSD.
Thank you for posting the pictures, can we have some more please while we are waiting. I am particularly interested in seeing the bokeh shots (portraits) to see how well this F/2.8 can blur the background.
I also want to know your opinion of Speed of new type of Autofocusing Mechanism in comparison to USM. Not how quiet it is (I am sure it is super quiet, like those lenses for m4/3 and NEX, designed for video) but how fast the new autofocusing system is. Thanks

I think thanks to this the lens is available quickly after announcement.
It seems to me that everything made outside of Japan is quickly available.
Rebels, 60D?, kit lenses
And everything (maybe with the exception of 5Dm3) made in Japan is a 6 month - 12 month delay.
Examples: 24-70II, 200-400 f4IS, 1Dx
Overall, I am patiently waiting for the 24-70 II (I have version 1) but I the mean time I might buy the shorty forty just so I have a new toy. Although I am not sure how much I need it since I have 50mm 1.4. But for $200, who cares.
