I am preparing an image for a photo contest, and would like some feedback if at all possible. I am having trouble deciding which I like the most, my original vision for the image when it was taken, or what I have learned to do with an image in post since it was taken. I would really appreciate any feedback I might get from the talented folks here at FM. Thanks in advance.

It's a great capture but the the magic is hidden in the shadows. The bright well defined focal point is the least interesting part of the photo. Below I toned it down and lightened everything around it and the sky. I also selectively sharpened the ridge line in the foreground and background. The dark nearly black mat, by comparison of tone, makes the shadows seem like they have more detail than if not matted or surrounded by a lighter page.

Sorry, been working on re-building my deck all day...just done cleaning up and sitting down with a cold one for the evening...
Chuck, I really like what you did there, that is a different take on the image, and a good one, one I had not thought of. I will be considering re-working my color version toward that now, thank you.

I'm stuck between #3 and #5, I like them both. I'm leaning towards #5.
I have been leaning toward 5 for the same reasons that Chuck worked the color version, more detail on the right, more texture. I love Black and White, and Black and white was the vision I had when shooting these, it was not until working on them that I considered keeping them in color.

I personally like the changes Chuck made... You want to walk your viewer into the scene via the coloration of the foreground...
I like them too...it did not help me make my decision...made me reconsider the color versions more!
