These have been posted over in the Landscape forum and seem to be taking a bit of a bashing on the processing. Someone suggested they'd be well received in here so thought i'd get your thoughts on them
Honestly, the HDR is fairly well done in most of them, but for me, you could back off just a smidge. The biggest problem is there are so many pictures, it's hard to really review/comment. #4 and #6 are probably my favorites, probably because they look the most natural to my eye. #1 and #2 could possibly look better if the brighter area was on the castle, rather than the grasses in front.
These are nothing short of beautiful to me. An extreme fan of HDR and tonemapping, but these don't have any of the negative halos that I usually see in HDRs so you get 2 thumbs up.
They are certainly striking. As to whether or not some are a little “over done”, I think that really boils down to tastes, and what the intended use/purpose of the images is intended to be. The weather extremes and the incredible topography should appeal to everyone, even if that required backing off a bit in some of the images.
Good stuff. Scotland is one of my favorite places.
I'm also a very big HDR fan and of post processing techniques in general so thumbs from me and congratulations!
I agree HDR is not to everyone's taste and some of these may be a little overdone, but these are my early efforts and have now found a better way of processing my images so will re work these and see if I can make them even better.
Bill these were taken in the Scottish Highlands mostly in and around the Glencoe and Sky area
