I have a question concerning focus distance with canon 7d and 100,400L lens. How close do you need to be to subject to get focus system to work? Went to Yellowstone park today and shot pictures of a wolf at around 100 yards away. USed A1 servo, high shutter speed(1600-3000), iso of 400, image stabilization, and "19point focus system, trying to keep squarecon eyes of animal. The pictures did not focus properly. Sort of new to this, so am wondering what is a resonable distance for focus system to work properly. Thanks
use af centerpoint only and aim straight for the animal that you want in focus
otherwise the sensor tries to average the focus between all the points...
Servo is for moving subjects. As Hai said, use center point for stationary subjects. Focus on the eyes if you are close enough, then lock the focus and recompose ~ Ron
