p.1 #1 · Purple Iris

First Purple Iris of the year and the wife would not let me cut it and take it inside to play with it. I would liked to have been able to take into my little studio and photograph it against a black background. So this shot is right from her flower bed before I get in trouble.

Hi Jim, This is a beautiful iris. When I photograph flowers in my garden, I have a mil board with black material on it. I set the camera on the tripod, then hold the board behind it.

Lowering the camera down and pointing slightly upward, you might be able to use just the ferns as the back drop eliminating the mulch from the background.

Just a couple thoughts.
