Interested to hear what you guys think of this and whether you think it works. It was shot at dawn into the sun. I saw this little guy rummaging around below the surface, and suddenly he popped up with breakfast. Dynamic range was extreme, so I opted to expose for the background to avoid totally blowing it out rather than exposing for the grebe.
I like the idea (silhouettes into a sunrise or sunset can be awesome), but the problem is the dull lighting. If your subject is going to be silhouetted, the background it is contrasted against has to be spectacular (otherwise it just looks like the exposure was messed up). You might be able to save this one by bumping the temp much warmer (giving you the appearance of blazing sunrise light reflecting off the water). I know, I know - could be considered "cheating", but give it a shot - you might like it!
