I like your composition, and how the rounded snow on the ground is interspersed with the sharp branches of the trees. Then my eye zooms over to the moose, and I wonder what it is thinking as it looks at you/camera. A fun photo, thanks for sharing it! Trude
Thanks for the comments. I appreciate the feedback as shooting wildlife is something I rarely do. You are correct that I didn't need a longer lens for this shot but there was a huge moose in another field down the road and he was quite far away. I borrowed this lens (200-400 Nikon) from a friend and really liked it. Thanks again!
I agree with BillK55... no longer lens needed here. Wildlife landscapes are so much more interesting than flat portraits. The combination of a dramatic subject in a stark snowy background that is exposed perfectly makes this a nice image. I think that it would become even stronger if you turned it into a 16x9 pano crop that isolates the moose against the white snow.
Thats my problem, I have the 600vr and can never seem to get a pic like this. I'm just to bullheaded to shoot with the 70-200 or the 24-70. If I was there I would have been going for a shoot of his eyeball. What you got is perfect and you didn't need longer glass.
