old Periscope building at Mare Island. during WW II, submarines were build there, as well as the periscopes which they sighted by looking one way to the Golden Gate Bridge and another way to the local hills. now they build pre-fab homes in building (another war effort?).

Agreed, even when they're falling down.
Glad to see this one being used though.
John - some buildings on the old navel base are being converted to commercial use, as is this one. some don't last. last month the large paint building caught fire and burned to the ground.
we keep returning and finding new images each time . . .
