I've been reading in the papers lately how the Miami Marine Stadium might be starting renovations soon so I went to go back and photograph it before they changed it. The Miami Marine Stadium is now a decrepit building covered in graffiti and filth, a photographer's dream.
The shots are good but what amazes me is the decrepit state of what was once a pinnacle of the miami skyline on the way to Key biscayne. I was born in miami and was there for the opening of the marine stadium. We used to watch the Unlimited hydroplanes race there and go to concerts at night like the Beach boys and Hank Williams Jr. and many others. It's amazing that the city let a real profit maker turn to a trash heap over political infighting. I'll dig out some of my "old-old-really old" shots and post them.
