Hello everyone.
I don't know a dang thing about the nikon system....
a friend has the D50 and a tamron 28-300 f3-6.3 and wants to know if the kenko 1.4 teleconverter will work with this kit.
he's concerned about auto focus more than IQ.
can anyone tell me if (a) this will work, (b) what kenko model to use, or (c) if there is another inexpensive alternative or suggestion?
it will be used for casual vacation and some surfing shots in good light. nothing too serious.
please use small words and treat me as a noob, I don't know any nikon specific terminology.
That is not a good idea as it will make the lens f/9 on the long end and it will proudly not AF at all and the viewfinder will be very dark. Plus the IQ would not be very good. Nikon recommends that to have good AF use a lens f/5.6 and faster.
If he wants good AF with a 1.4 TC then needs to spend a little money. I recommend a used 300mm f/4 AF-S and a Kenko 1.4 TC.
