If you belong to NAPP and use the Adobe link in the discount section it ends up being $67 and change for the upgrade. They're also offering free shipping if you want the disc instead of a download.
Big drop in the price for the full version but not much drop in the upgrade price. Upgrading to 3 the upgrade was a third of the cost of the full version. With the new pricing the upgrade is more than half the cost of the full version.
Its quicker than the beta, but dissapointing that they didn't include an HTML5 web gallery. The world is moving away from Flash but still in need of a 'flashy' slideshow. Nevermind, I had been looking elsewhere for a while, and have now bought elsewhere.
For processing its great, but I wanted the whole package improved.
I'll be downloading the upgrade tonight. I just looked at some of the videos and I liked what I saw. It's certainly worth the upgrade.
I watched the segment talking about white balance correction for a mixed lighting situation and I immediately thought of my recent purchase of the NIK filter suite. I prefer their implementation of selective changes better. From what I could tell, the NIK control point concept gives me more precise control. Yes it's more software you have to buy and even at academic prices it was significantly more the LR 4, but I find the NIK tools have really helped my post processing. They are the perfect complement to LR and PS. When used in PS, they have the advantage of placing the adjustments on layers. It's much easier to go back and edit.
Yes, in my (limited) use since applying the upgrade, the Version 4 release seems to run much faster than the Beta, and so far with none of the periodic crashes that I experienced with the Beta.
