I've got one Vagabond Mini Lithium right now and a pair of B400's... do you think its possible, or even safe, to power 3 B1600's off of a single VML? I'm looking buying 3 and trying to decide if i need to buy another VML or not... having 5 lights and 2 batterys is a PILE of gear to carry anywhere...

Are you talking about drawing 3 1600's @ full power ... or ... using 3 1600's simultaneously a varied / lower power levels? The first one might be a stretch @ current draw, the latter is likely more reasonable.

You can always go to the PCB website forum and ask PCB himself for his take on whether it'll just mean "fewer pops" or "longer recycles" or "not good".

As noted PCB website forum is the very best place to ask this question. Matter of fact, if you look around their forum you will find similar questions with answers.

You need another VML....the VML was originally inspired by Bacilonur's pelican battery which was designed to be used one per B800...

If you use more than one B1600 strobe on a VML, it'll be slowwwww....6sec recycle at full power?

This would be for shooting cars during mid day sun so full power... 6 second recycle times are no big deal... I have the camera on single shot and if i pop off 2 shots a minute i'm doing good.

All three @ full power current draw to shoot cars ... no brainer imo, get the second VML.

It isn't THAT much more gear to pack to the location, and it'll give you more versatility @ lighting placement/cord management. Then you can have one VML to run two lights and one VML to run one light + camera/other.

get an older VBII if you want faster recycle times...they're fairly cheap used around $200 nowadays...

I've run three White Lightning x1600s off my one VML a few times. I believe they (Paul Buff) talk about running up to three. Just don't use the modeling light, that will drain the VML fast.

I owned one, that thing was a PITA. The mini lithium is the best thing for portable lighting to hit the market in awhile.

The one nice thing about the VBII was that I didn't need a sand bag lol.

Ive used 3 1600s on one VML to do exactlly what yo uare looking for. I had no problems and after about a good hour of shooting probably 40-50 shots the battery was still at 3/4. Paul Buff says you can run up to 3 with no problems. I am in the same boat with you though. I want to get another VML, but I dont want to spend the $275 for that and the bag.
