Another in this brief series of my travel rigs through the years.
Taken in Red Rock State Park- California.
The red rock sure wasn't next to the campground .
Yep, I've slept in one of those my own self. White, too. As long as you weren't in a hurry to get up a hill or into a headwind, and didn't crash into anything, they were great!
We stopped there to "water" the dog on the way to Mammoth this weekend. The big parking lot on the east side of CA14 was full of bees Friday afternoon. Oh well. Charlie, I think you truly have been everywhere.
Thanks Ernie, Jim and Peter.
Over the years I've bought about 40 (used) vehicles, and driven them more than 800,000 miles. Three of them required engine rebuilds. Two of the three were VW buses. I owned two VW buses. Notice a pattern? .
I always felt safe trundling down the highway at 50-mph in a bus, Ernie, secure in the knowledge that in case of a head-on collision I was protected by 1/4 inch of glass .
Charlie
That's why I always like VW busses as well, and the fact that one I was riding in jumped a full lane sideways in a crosswind coming over CA152 on the way to Yosemite. Yeah.
Peter, I can identify, with you, on the instant lane changes. We had a buss, with a fiberglass top, that added a few more square feet to the sail. You really had to pay attention, when going up the Ridge Route, in California.
