Have any of you used this utility?

http://eoscount.com/

Quote from the FAQ page:
"Any DIGIC III and later camera that can connect through the EDSDK v2.10 is theoretically supported. For example, shutter count can be read from the Rebel XSi, Rebel T1i, Rebel T2i, Rebel T3i, 60D, 7D, 5D Mark II, and the 1D Mark IV.

DIGIC II and some DIGIC III cameras may not be supported. For example, the shutter count is not available for the original 5D (Mark I) and for the 1Ds Mark III."

I tried it and it confirmed my suspicion about my 5D Mark II purchased used. Here's what the sale ad said:

"I would guess there are under 2000 actuations on shutter. This camera is practically brand new. "

I took about 100 shots since I bought it and now this software says there are 36,717 actuations. I hope it's wrong but I tried taking shots and the count went up accordingly. A little buggy and only works with IE 32 bit. I'm bummed.

p.s. I guess there is an IE plugin to try and use it with Firefox. I didn't try it though.

Try eosinfo with a 5D MK II, it works, and should give the same number of actuations.
http://astrojargon.net/EOSInfo.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1

The 32 bit limitation will be due to the Canon SDK used, not the software author.

I've yet to find anything that really does work with a 7D. I wonder if this one really does?

What... Don't you believe in Santa Claus

Some have tried it and reported it works on the 7D. Some are a little concerned about putting a 1 week old piece of software on their computer and want to wait to hear if there are any problems, or malware included. I'm waiting for a report back from Symantec before I test it, I'm overly cautious and skeptical.

I also frequently post on Canon rumors, as anywhere on the web, use common sense.

Twelve pages of discussion on it here. Haven't read them all, but it seems to work. I may try it this weekend.

EOScount worked flawlessly on the 60D I just purchased. Count was also higher than reported by previous owner (he used file system count which must have been off; 1837 user reported vs. 3927 EOScount reported). Either would have been acceptable to me, so no big deal.

Eoscount has worked for both of my 1div and 1 7d. It doesn't work on 5d and 1d3.

You can also verify the 5D II count using EOSInfo. It should have the same result as eoscount.com. Looks like you got duped...

Thanks for the link. Wish I had this to give a more accurate count when selling the 7D than just guessing from a Lightroom count.

Well I'm skeptical.
EOSCount says my 5DMII has just over 12,400 shots, but I have never reset the sequence, and my last image is numbered 9,453. Did Canon fire the shutter almost 3,000 times after assembly? I highly doubt it was the dealer since I picked it up the day they got it in from Canon (it was one of the first to arrive in Montreal).
