I recently became the owner of a Mamiyaflex C2 TLR system in great condition... with one caveat. The shutter sticks open at 1s, 2s, 4s, 8, and sometimes the 15s settings (but works fine in bulb). I am using the 'X' sync and not the 'M' sync.
I am able to unscrew the lens element and see the front side of the shutter, but am a bit wary of cleaning the shutter from the front and risking the cleaning solution spread oil/gunk to the rear elements.
Does anyone have any advice for cleaning the shutter so these settings work better?
The slow speed mechanism is gummed up. Many mechanical shutters have separate slow and high speed timing, and one can work normally while the other doesn't Unless you have experience working with leaf shutters, send it off, you run the strong chance of ending up with a pile of springs and gears otherwise. A fluid flush is only a temporary means, the lens unit needs to be disassembled, cleaned, and relubed.
