p.1 #1 · Canon 100mm L users

I'm contemplating whether I should trade in my Zeiss 100mm makro planar for this lens. I love the bokeh of the Zeiss but the backgrounds become more or less unrenderable over f/5.6 and the screen darkens dramatically with every aperture decrease as in all manual lenses.

So if people who have this lens could post some pictures here, possibly with a variety of different aperture settings I would be much obliged.

Grateful,
Paul

I don't have my image upload on at the moment but if you search my posts, you'll find a series of seven handheld natural light threads. All pics with 100L; exif data visible. To be taken with a pinch of salt, of course, as camera, skills, available light and pp will drastically affect final result, but might be of some help.

Have to say, of all the Zeiss pics I've seen, the ones taken by the 100 makro planar have been the ones that stood out the most. I think it depends on what you're going to be taking. To me, the Zeiss is better for flowers and probably portraits if your subject isn't a fidgety toddler but if I was looking to get into NL insect photography, I'd probably get the Canon.

Here are three shots of the various stages of a Poplar Leaf beetle all taken with the 100mm L (IS version) on a 7D. All handheld.
