p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Quick workflow with RAW (PS CS3)

So, I am pretty much convinced to start shooting RAW with my 1Ds2.

My question is: How to process the images quickly in Photoshop CS3?

With jpegs, I open 50 at a time. Then I hit my preset F keys depending on the image.

contrast / sharpen

and/or

shadow recovery

I can rip thru the 50 in just a couple of minutes.

How can I process this many RAW files when I have to open them one at a time?

thanks

greg

I think lightroom may well be your best friend
But you can batch proccess in ACR and open to cs3

Batch processing dont work for me. Rarely do I have to do the same levels, contrast, sharpening, saturation, etc. Plus cropping.

I don't think RAW is for ripping through 50 images in a few minutes...

Sometimes jpegs are useful when you just want to rip and run.

Get to know Bridge. LR is not a magical app that fixes all images at once. Never has been, never will be...

The best way is to correct one image in ACR - that you think is similar to several/many others - make changes that you want to apply to all (WB, sharpening, etc.) and then hit "Done".

Select the other *similar* images, R-click, and under Develop Settings, click "previous conversion". N.b. this gets you close but you may still have to make changes for individual images - just like you would in LR...

Just to clarify...

I am not "batch processing". I give each image a look then hit one or more of my F keys to do the adjustment before saving it to another folder.

It is ultra quick and works very well for my standard family portrait settings. I just wish my 1Ds2 could blow away my 5D with respect to jpegs...
