Hello friends, thought I'd post a few shots of rutting bighorns in the Rockies. These were taken in some crazy light, which was filtered through an ice fog, and bouncing all over the near featureless snow scene. It was bright!, yet with limited visibility, and the high key exposures were my only choice. Cold.
The rutting ritual of the bighorn is a most interesting event to photograph - with all the emotions the rams display. I particularly like incredulous look the rams have when they are ignored by the ewe they fancy - they simply cannot believe the ewe is not noticing their superiority
The last shot is of a big ram and his ewe, silhouetted against an ice fog rainbow that was in a circle around the setting sun.

Great behavioural set Jim in very challenging light I would think.
I like the poses in # 2 as both the competing Rams size up the ewe.

Hey Martin, thanks for commenting - it's a great experience to hang with the rams!
