Matthew, Is the bird in #2 a Curlew? I've seen these on the high plains of northeastern New Mexico, near Clayton when they are nesting. It seemed odd to see a shore bird in an area that can be exceptionally dry.
Thanks all, yeah the Curlew was kind of skittish. I had a picnic blanket they were giving out at work with a weatherproof bottom...layed down for awhile on it till he walked over on his own. It's coming in very handy I must say for beach shooting.
