Shooting birds in mid-flight is technically the most challenging part of photography. Although landings and take-offs are somewhat "slower" but still the next difficult thing. You've done well here.
2 is a super shot Peter, I love it. I would leave it at that but you are one of the harshest critics of comments like that. 1 is a bit soft, I don't find anything within that shot in focus. Just being honest my friend

Andy
Thank you, Andy, once we in the Canon camp get 1DX, I am hoping that BIF capture will become a bit easier, particularly so for flyers against busy, non-sky backgrounds.

Thank you, Tim. Every time someone makes us take a more critical look at our pictures, that can not be a bad thing, eh ? I think I might have overcropped #1.

beautiful peter. Canadians look happy at home
Thank you, Gsmani.
During that same shooting session an odd lookin' Canada Goose exploded into flight.
Wasn't quite ready for him/her (swinging handheld 400 f/2.8 IS MkI around fast is a bit awkward ), the bird ended up being boxed-in framed and all that, but I liked the light as well as the background.
