I know! I plan to pick one up this year, I'm wondering if it's safe to buy a used copy, since the focus shift thing is supposedly more prominent among older serial numbers. But it's not that expensive new, so I'll probably just buy new

Hmm, I am not sure what to make out of that... internet hype, maybe ? What I meant is that focus shift could be a part (undesired phenomena) of a fast lens design and it may vary (slightly) from copy to copy but not as pronounced as some described it but it would have less to do with the age/when the lens was manufactured. But if that what makes you feel more comfortable then by all means buy a brand new one. You are right though, the price difference in quite a few cases would not justify buying a used one.
Got mine last week, too. So far I have used the 50/1.4 which is also a fine lens. But the 50/1.2 is really stunning - it is a light sucker! Next I want to do is a side-by-side comparison, but I likely keep both copies, certainly the 50/1.2.

OP - Nice shots!!!
Haha, great comment! Yes, the weight also distinguishes the 1.2 a lot from the 1.4 version ...
