I'm trying to join the solarization fun. Not sure the black BG is working in the first two images but I like the effect.

This is neat to see.
I like the third the best. Charlie described the reasons well.
The solarization does a nice job of bringing out more detail and life to the center of the flower.

Thank you Tim. It's all done is sc5. I used the solarization 'button', converted the image with the channel mixer and adjusted the levels.
Then I fine tune with selective colors, curves and levels. If necessary only local. Sharpening is done with high pass filter.
