There are eagles at L&D 14. They started to concentrate around the dam about 3 to 4 days ago.
Shooting is good with bait fish in hand or I mean in the water.
The eagles left last year at or around February 13th. It looks like this will be a very short season this year due to the warm winter that we are having.
This weekend will probably end up being a zoo at LD14. Calumet out of Chicago advertised an eagle photography seminar this weekend at LD14. I signed up right away as the price was right and there was the opprotunity to pick up some pointers and they had some fun evening activities planned plus door prizes. However, they are now up to 62 registered participants and are still accepting registrations. If I had known the size of the group, I wouldn't have signed up back in December.
84 was the latest I heard. But it seems some of them will go to LD15. The large signup apparently is because they are bringing along a few Tamron long teles which the participats can use for free.

thanks Larry, your updates are appreciated! Question, is the lock area to the west of the dam frozen over?

Hi Al,
If you are referring to the area where we have gotten some nice shots with the ice, the whole area is frozen. The Corps has not been working there, so they have not broken up the ice.
I've never been along the Mississippi at all to view the Baldys. Does everyone go to Damn 14 because you can get a better view of them for photography?
