I really like #1, #3, and #4, Martin. Shooting with snow is tough but you did an excellent job. You do realize that most people would have let you take the starling back to England on your way to Switzerland.
Al
Thanks Al.
I get lots of chances to shoot in snow when I get over to Ottawa.
From what I have read Brian it seems to be the most detested of birds.
Not surprising people want to send it back.
Unfortunately I had a direct flight to Geneva and wasn't transiting through London or I would have been happy to oblige

Great shots Martin, especially like number 1 and 4
After trying to do some shots in the snow yesterday, I have a whole new appreciation for what it takes to get good images, my hat is off to you!
Larry
Thanks so much for your kind words Larry.
But keep you hat on in the snow and don't get cold

Very nice portraits of our little snowy birdies. Living in Switzerland, I guess you are used to doing photography in the snow.
Thanks Peter.
I take most of my pics in the snow in Ottawa.
In Geneva, which down low by the lake, we don't get so much although there is lots of it in the mountains.
I should really get up there more often I know.
Cheers,
Martin

Drill a hole and jump in! Seems silly do drill holes in ice
#1 so interesting on how my mind sees it, first a burst of color then an appreciation for patterns. Nice subtle colors and a great exposure Martin on the Chickadee.
Good looking 'Junc'!
I like the depth and feel of this shot down low, neat one
Nice stretch shot of the contrasty Starling, good looking darks.
Take care
Karl
Well I never saw them jump into one of those ice holes Karl but one never knows
Thanks for your appreciate comments my friend.
Cheers,
Martin

I find this to be a super set Martin. The color of the perch in the first really extenuates what would be a monochromatic shot. The bird is nice and sharp from tip to tail. What a beauty! Juncos are a winter favorite, this is a fine example of one. The second Chickadee is another beauty, love the pose! Heck Martin you even managed to make the Starling look good!!! Drilling holes in the ice, well looking at that one just makes my toes numb!
Fine work my friend.
Tim
Delighted you liked them so much Tim.
I think that first one must be the best one I have taken of a Chickadee and I was real pleased with it.
I was also delighted to get a reasonable one of a Junco and have been trying for what seems ages.
Making Starlings look good, well I should go into PR then from the sounds of the negative comments on their character
Thank you for your nice comments my friend.
Martin
I really like the first image, Martin. The red of that plant adds a pleasing warm feel to a winter image The image is also properly exposed with visible fine detail in the black and the whites.
Lighting and especially exposure looks very nice in the rest of the images. Well done!

Nice looking set, Martin. The balance of the comp in the first is outstanding. That stretching starling is quite a shot. Very unusual pose with great details -
Thanks for your detailed comments David.
Glad you like the comp in 1.
